Podcast Description
Chantal Dawtrey and Matthew Green, founders of 5th Place, explore everything about emotions, feelings, and what it is to become and remain mentally healthy and emotionally fit.
Emotions Matter. Really!
Why do emotions matter? We are Chantal Dawtrey and Matthew Green, founders of 5th Place, where our mission is to make the world a better place by enabling the “how”. In this podcast we explore everything about emotions, feelings, and what it is to become and remain emotionally fit.
We believe that, although our emotions have been made the underdog to our analytical, rational minds, our emotions underpin everything we do and are. Emotions do matter. Emotions separate and connect us, they drive our behaviour and decision making, they allow us to thrive or barely survive.
We want to bring people back to the intelligence of their bodies, to connect to their feelings and, working with the information they offer, take steps to build their emotional fitness and make the world a better place. We want to change the narrative about mental health and emotional wellbeing. By advocating for increased awareness and understanding, we are determined to blow the lid off the taboo, misunderstanding and downright incorrect information about what makes us truly human.
Together we have combined decades of personal journeying, studying, working, research and guidance into our approach and process that we will share with you.
We interrogate the taboo around expressing and talking about emotions and feelings. We talk about all those things we want less of like stress, anxiety and burnout and the things we want more of, like sleep, calm, and self care.
We explore tools, tips and techniques for managing your emotions, including “Shape of Emotion”, the pioneering mind/body model, process and tool that we developed to regulate how you feel. We will examine what it means to be emotionally fit and why this equals a better quality of life.
We also cover stories from society through meaningful conversations with a wide range of people from all walks of life, about their work, their emotional challenges and their strategies to cope. We explore books, movies, stories, research and experiences that tap into what our emotions do for us, and how they could support us better rather than trip us up. And we also have a bit of fun.
